 History of Boudha stupa;

history of boudha stupa

Boudha stupa is one of the world largest heritage sites in the Kathmandu, it was in 1979 stupa is a UNESCO world heritage site, and it is also one of the most popular tourist sites in Nepal,

The Boudha Stupa, the world known as Boudha nath or bouda stupa, is also called (chotenJharung-khasor), The Boudha-Stupa was built in the 5th century, it is one of the largest ancient and magnificent Stupas in the world. It is the most important place of pilgrimage and worship for Buddhists all over the world, The Great Stupa symbolizes the Compassion of all the Buddhas.

 the history is;  Once upon a time, there was a woman who was name Called; Ma Jazima(mother Poulter), She had four sons born from different fathers, she who look after the chicken( poultry keeper) for her livelihood and sons, she had enough earn money for her daily expand and also can save more aside from this work.

She was devotees of Buddha and faith in the buddha. Hence along she wanted to make a stupa for the offer to buddha. but she had no idea how to and what to because she didn’t have land for the built stupa. Then one day she thought that, she decided to go to the local king of this area to ask permission to offer land to build stupa.

Normally the king doesn’t give them such permission, but somehow may be due to her past good merits(karma). The king allowed her the permission for land but it was granted on Terms and condition, the king said, that she can use a land measuring the size of an Ox skin. However, Ma azima was agreed, and cut off the all skin into the thin of the string size and claimed the land enclosed from the ox skin string which laid end to end, Because she wanted to build a quiet a bigger stupa and offered to buddha.

 Then she measured the land by her skin string and drew the borderline by put the stone pillar to make separated her land, while she started build up-to three line of walls, caused much jealousy between the rich and powerful at the time in that area. The jealous lords claimed to the king to stop such construction on a big land area. In actual king also didn’t thought that much big land she used, but it was he already allowed it to happen size of ox skin, since permission to build has been given to her. so It won’t be restricted again. Once said is said.

Thus the Tibetan call it  Choten Jarung  khasor. ( Choten means; stupa/ Jarung means; can do./ Khasor means; slipped out of the mouth) after permission, while she started to built a stupa, she was passed away after she completed up to the three level of  vase(dome) of the stupa, the dome-like structure. She had four sons, and they built it up step by step and completed the rest of stupa. It took seven years to completed and when it was completed, the Sun didn’t set for five days.

They all wanted to wish and prayers, and stood up in front of the stupa and make a prayer. Everyone prays for a wish. While they were praying that all 84,000 Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Gods, Goddesses, and Dakinis assembled from the ten directions to the seat of the  loft sky and shower blessings and flowers on Boudhanath Stupa Then they dissolved into the Stupa. That is why Boudhanath Stupa stands as the main root of Buddhism representing the compassion of all the Buddhas and bodhisattvas,

 And anybody who makes the wish and prays in front of the buddha stupa, it will come true and fulfill everyone's. Especially when you see the very first time. Whatever you make prayer for, it will come true to you. while the brothers are standing in front of the stupa the oldest brother makes the prayer, May I become a dharma king in Tibet, The second one heard his brother prayer and said;  “may I become a minister to support him to spread the dharma. The next one makes the prayer, May I be an abbot(a Learner) to pass on the dharma lineage of ordination in Tibet. and the next one makes prayer; may I become a very powerful Yogi, when there are obstacles to spreading buddha-dharma in Tibet.

The second one becomes a minister in Tibet was Wamitishey, (Padma-Gungtsen) the third brother became an abbot,(Santa-Rakshita) and the fourth one become Guru Rinpoche(Padmasambhava) who subdued all kind of spirits in Tibet. He is a very important role in Tibet.

Then in 1979 Boudha stupa was a UNESCO World Heritage Site. along with Swayambhu stupa, these are one of the most popular tourism sites in the Kathmandu area in Nepal. Thus there are  all over the world tourist are come to visit Boudhanath and make prayers and wishes.
