Bodhi-Chitta Mala:

what makes bodhi-Chitta special? Why do beads cost so much? what's their importance and what value in our society

I will explain these very details to you.

I would like to make you clear about what actually is “bodhicitta” means and “bodhichitta mala” means?  Then you can understand my explanation very well.

The Bodhichitta name comes from Sanskrit words, “Bodhi” means to enlighten and “Chitta “ means mind.

In general, it is understood as the mind (soul) of bodhisattva's, and also as refers to great compassion or loving-kindness to all living beings.

The bodhi-Chitta mala is a deep connection with bodhichitta, Because it is produced seeds from the Guru Rinpoche’s compassion and loving-kindness. So that's why the name was given.

It is a more profound and deep connection with great compassion, the wish to benefits all living beings free from suffering and problems. If we have superb compassion, especially the high compassion that is generated through exchanging self with others. And also called (giving and taking practice. Give one's happiness to others and take other’s suffering to ones.

Bodhichitta is the source of ultimate happiness and joy that a compassionate mind is the very essence of Bodhisattva’s training. It helps to live to be to develop good hearts 💞 and enables us to solve all our problems. fulfil all our wishes, and develop the power to help others.

Second I explain about bodhichitta mala;

Boddhi-Chitta mala, ”Mala” also Sanskrite words, it means rosary. there are many different names in several languages

In-Sanskrit bodhi-Chitta mala, In Tibetans called(bodhi-Chitta-tengwa) In Chinese(Fong-hen-Boddhi-nianzhu) In English(bodhi Chitta mala or rosary).

In history: that (bodhicitta beads) produced seeds from the Guru Rinpoche’s compassion or enlighten the heart.

But also says, Gautam Buddha brought it from Tulshita heaven to gift for the earth, And Padmasambhava bring it to the Himalayan region to benefit them. However, the exact history is not yet clear in modern society. You have to responsible for research the correct answer.

Padmasambhava was an Indian Buddhist master believed to possess lived within the 8th century. his full life travelled to wondering practice to free from suffering and death.

There are various legends concerning and such a lot of mystical and emanation-power) and miracle deeds in his life. He visited many northern parts of IndiaNepalBhutan, and Tibet

Meditated in the wonderful cave,(Tongsum Tundra Cave):

One Day Guru Rinpoche reached in Nepal. And On the way he encountered some beautiful village and an attractive Caves, Padmasambhava(guru-Rinpoche) desire to stay some days for meditated into that beautiful cave which name called (Tongsum Tundra Cave), which was located in the present-day Timal Kabre district in Nepal,

at that time he felt that the lives of villagers nearby were very hard and full of affected by the demon’s harm. (In Tibetan(Yakhya-Nagpo Du) demon)

Subdue the Demons:

He felt very compassionate to them and wanted to assist, so he decided to subdue demons and help these villagers materially, so He subdues the demons and also found a fast solution he introduced the Boddhi-Chitta tree that produces seeds from his compassion to acceptable for praying and make them peace and happiness through that tree

This is the story behind the Boddhi Chitta trees found in and around the Timal region of Kabre district, in Nepal.

Why? bodhicitta seeds are so special from these areas?

In the Timal and Namobuddha areas are very different than those found in other parts of Nepal and countries,

Because the seed is not as simple as it looks, need to know about the sizes, maturity, and hardness of the seed, transform into beautiful Red colour after being used, unbroken eyes of seeds, how many eyes on the beads, and if the seed is picked from a tree or drop to the ground, also, price and quality should be different.  the seed is of course grown in many areas of Nepal, But the Timal and Namobuddha Area is the best and special beads for most coveted areas,

So I think it should be no different than tea...tea is complicated.....not simple as we think in just leaves, same tea but if grown in different areas will have a change and quality in tea taste.

Bodhichitta Bead has 1 eye, 3 eyes, 4 eye, and 5 eyes, etc..

Price cost according to size, We can find size from 7mm to 20mm beads size. the smallest one is the most expensive. And bigger and biggest ones are cheaper and the cheapest. Also, some bigger beads have different eyes, 5 and 4 eyes are quite expensive. 1, and  3 eyes are most cheaper than those.

Why Bodhi-Chitta is so costly than others?

In the Buddhist sutra and Tantra explain about this in a very Vast way.

But I just short describe to you. There are four main activities, are below:

There Four activities:

1- activities of pacifying,  (for peaceful deities)

2-activities of extensive,   (for enhanced deities)

3- activities of empowerment, (for empowerment deities)

4-activities of fierce,  (for wrathful deities)

Each activity has a different Deities, and each deity has a personal mantra

when you practice among one of this four activities, you have to visualize that deity and recite the mantra, While you recite the mantra, You have to use their personal mala make by their suitable materials and color, and numbers. But most of their numbers, are the same 108 beads.

But Bodhichitta is all in 1 (or 4 in 1)

Because it is explained In the sutra and tantra: That Bodhichitta(seeds) specific is can be used for all 4 activities of deities and any of mantra. No need for individual and separate material and colors, that's why it’s all in 1 or(4 in 1) all rounded mala.

what is bodhicitta

1-for pacifying activity of deities and mantra used to mala(rosary) made of glasspearl, and white color is the best for this activity.

2-for extensive activities of deities and mantra, made by Goldsilverscopperbrass,  lotus are best for it.

3-for empowerment activities of deities and mantra, mala made by saffron, the scent of sandalwood, or a mixture of nice fragrances mix with materials to roll into pills to make it for use.

4- for fierce activities of deities and mantra we made by Rudraraksha seeds, some special medicinal plants, and male person bone after death, cut it into the shape of pills of mala.

5- but bodhichitta seeds, make for all of them these four activities and deities of mantras.

And it is also very important for a Buddhist practitioner when a Buddhist practitioner(monks)wanted to go to the three years retreat, then they start to find bodhichitta mala because it has the power of catchable for all mantras and any of deities blessings can be easier remain into this beads.

How to use the Bodhi-Chitta mala?

There are numerous ways to hold the mala(rosary) But when you do practice, You just need to hold the mala in your left hand on the centre of your heart. Then you have to start chant the mantra with the right next bead of the guru bead. You can hold one bead with your index finger and thumbs like an iron hook, Then pull your thumb to move the next bead.

Each bead adds one count to your chanting. When you reached the guru bead again, you find you completed a hundred times of chanting.

Most of them count the mantras by reciting each recitation one bead proceeds. to recite the mantra and count while in practices, the most common form of the mala has 108 beads.

However, you'll find Buddhist(mala)rosaries that contain 18, 27, and 54 beads. Buddhists believe that every complete count of Buddha Chitta rosary, helps you retain your mind calmer and focus on their thoughts.

You can recite a mantra 100 times, 108 times, or even a hundred thousand times with the same garland. Some “Mala” have extra added identification with a regular interval like there might be some precious crystal or different colors after 27 beads, which means you have cross a quarter of the loop.
